Story(Must read 1st paragraph carefully to understand the story)

Sometimes at dusk, we could see him come out from the hidden interiors of his island. For years, we had no idea who he was or what he did until my sister and I broke into the island and witnessed him do the unthinkable: wielding the power of Eldritch.

A hundred years ago, a meteor hit the Earth in San Francisco. The first person who touched the meteor was infected, causing his genes to be rewritten. He then gained a strong power that allowed him to use his energy and crystallize it. This power was called the Eldritch, however, it took a major toll on his body. He was put in a lab along with the meteor for research, scientists were instructed not to touch the meteor, they feared that they would become abnormal like him… and they were right. The young boy was succumbed to its powers, releasing a vast amount of energy, crystallizing almost everyone and everything in his path. He infected hundreds of people, and they gained powers as well. San Francisco was destroyed, and in place of it, was a seemingly never-ending dark abyss, called the Endless Chasm. Monsters came out of it, terrorizing humanity, but when they touched Eldritch, they dissolved. At the stroke of midnight, all of the monsters suddenly vanished, and haven’t appeared for the last hundred years. After the monsters disappeared, many chasms formed across the world, sharing one name, the Endless Chasm, but over time, they vanished, except for one. This incident was later called, the Calamity of Eldritch. The surviving infected victims came together to form an organization called DELTA. However, the government didn’t want history repeated, and so they took them away on an island and claimed that they killed them off… at least that’s what they wanted us to believe. But now, one hundred years into the future, society has become prosperous, forgetting what happened back then, regarding it as a myth, they soon forgot about the the true potential of the Endless Chasm besides the fact that it is used as a place where criminals would be thrown to. Little did they know that the monsters would soon awaken, the Endless Chasms all over the world would be summoned, and history would repeat once more, only the ones who wield Eldritch can destroy the monsters and the Chasms itself, but is every wielder willing to exterminate it?

My twin sister and I sneaked out from our house, heading towards the lake near the island where the mysterious boy “lived.” We managed to barely get through the security and made it onto the island. Lacie glanced at me with uncertainty, she asked,

“Alice, are you sure that this is okay, remember what our village was told? If anyone came near the lake, then they would be thrown into the Chasm, we would be despised just like the people who had the power of Eldritch! We would be thrown into the Chasm just like them, and we would be considered outlaws to the government! No one has been reported of ever escaping it, if the police force caught us, we’d be dead for sure!” I rolled my eyes at her, flicking her forehead.

“Weirdo, that is only a myth, no one has ever seen the Endless Chasm before, the power of Eldritch isn’t real. We have been near the lake a thousand times, we won’t be caught this time! All we know is that the government is hiding something, and I’m determined to find out what it is! This is all for-” I stopped myself before I could say anything else. I looked at my sister, seeing her look down in grief. Our mother was taken away by the government, she was charged for criminal activity without any proof and is still being held in custody. I tried to smile for my sister, patting her head,

“Everything is alright, I will prove our mother’s innocence and set her free. The government is trying to keep us from something and I intend on uncovering it.” My sister continued staring at the ground. She then asked me,

“Do you remember what grandpa told us? The legend that the Endless Chasm could grant any wish?” I blinked, surprised at why she would speak of that topic. I replied,

“Yes, how could I forget, you and grandpa kept on saying that if the legend was real, both of you would become rich. The days when you were really young were hilarious.” My sister giggled, she then asked me once more,

“If the legend is real, what would you wish for?” I tilted my head to one side, why ask me about this now, couldn’t you do this another time? I sighed, replying,

“Of course I would wish that mother-” Before I could finish, I noticed a faint beam of light glow for less than a second and vanish. My sister noticed it too, we glanced at each other, immediately knowing what to do, we hid in the shadows, waiting.

“What was that?” Lacie whispered, narrowing her eyes. I stared at the place where the beam once was.

“I don’t know, and we won’t know unless we find out.” I beckoned Lacie out of the bush. We stealthily edged closer to where the light was. Another beam glowed, this time much stronger, fizzing and disappeared. We crouched down camouflaging in the ferns. With my sister beside me, I slowly opened the ferns, my heart racing. What we saw… changed everything about what we knew, and whether or not those were all lies.

We saw a boy close to our age, it seemed like he was holding something close to his heart. Could he be the mysterious boy that lived on the island? I thought. He was murmuring something, spreading his arms, and all of a sudden pulling them back. For some reason, we could see something come out of him from all sides of his body. It looked like mist at first, but when he jerked his arms back, all of it crystallized, then turned into something wavy, like chains in the sky. The chains were very white piercingly hot, blinding our eyes. They were circling around him with a flick of his hand, it later migrated onto his right hand and turned into an orb. It slowly faded away when he closed it. For a moment, I saw a mark on his hand, it then wafted away from him, dissolving. He stood there for a few moments, and then ran into the trees away from the clearing. I don’t know what happened, but I suddenly went out of my hiding place running towards him. My sister tried to grab me but stumbled and fell into the clearing.

“Wait!” I called out to him, but he kept on running. What in the world was that, don’t tell me that the myth actually exists?! I shook my head. There’s no way, right?

“Hold it right there, or I’ll cut your sister’s throat out.” I stopped on my tracks, turning around and saw the same guy holding a knife close to Lacie’s neck. Since when did he manage to get right next to Lacie?! I glared at him.

“Put her down this instant!” I yelled at him, crouching down to the ground and pulling out a small blade I kept in my pocket. The boy blinked, he flipped his knife and jabbed my sister using the holder. Her legs buckled and her body collapsed, I stared at him in horror. Fear turned to rage, I ran towards him drawing back my blade.

“What did you do to her!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. He stepped back, holding out his knife, which dissolved into thin air, just like the chains. He stood still, next to my sister’s body. I aimed the blade at him, and as quick as lightning, he dodged every single one of my attacks.

“Relax, I only knocked her unconscious, the one who should be asking questions is me.” With sudden movements, he took away my blade and pointed it in my direction. I froze, and could feel the coldness of the blade close to my throat.

“How on Earth did you find out about this island, normal humans won’t be able to see it, and how in the world did you get past that barrier? Only the ones with the power of Eldritch or are a part of DELTA could enter… wait.” He narrowed his eyes, studying me intensely. “Could it be… that you are the child of Freya?” He crushed the blade, and it turned to dust. He hauled me up by my shirt, my feet dangling above the ground. So the legend is true after all. I thought.

“Freya? Did you just say Freya, Damien?” There was giggling behind his back. Damien turned around, in the corner of my eye, I saw a young girl with short hair smiling weirdly. She was wearing some sort of cloak with an emblem on it. Her hair was grown on the left side of her face, covering her eye. Damien gritted his teeth,

“Zella, what are you doing here?” He hissed, dropping me down. I thudded, hurting my tailbone, wincing. Zella walked towards me sister, bending down.

“I heard the screams of that girl over there, so I came to check things out, you might want to tell her to stop yelling, many people won’t be pleased that an outsider trespassed onto our island.” She reached out to touch Lacie’s hair, twirling it.

“Don’t touch her!” I howled, pushing myself forward. Damien stood in front of me, whispering,

“Do not move, one single mishap, and your head will leave your body, this girl is dangerous and despises your family.” I layed there, not knowing what to do. Why can’t I even protect my sister? I thought to myself, lowering my head. Zella took out a dagger and slowly cut open a small part of her skin. Blood came out and Zella placed her finger on the wound. She then drew her finger back, inspecting the blood. She began smiling, this time her eye flared with threatening intent.

“What is this? So they really are the daughters of Freya, I thought she died after she betrayed our clan, carrying her daughters to the grave with her. They should’ve died a long time ago, that was their fate. This is morbid indeed.” She moved her eye to our direction. “Shall I… kill them then?” Damien pushed me back,

“What… are you doing?” Zella stood up, putting her hand out. She was whispering something, similar to what Damien was doing when he summoned the white-like chains. But instead of chains, they were thorns merged together to form a sword. She pointed the sword at Lacie.

“Say, what would happen if I killed you right now, wouldn’t it be… morbid?” Her expression came to that of murderous intent, and drew her sword back. As she was about to stab Lacie, I immediately reacted. All of a sudden, a burst of light enveloped around me, blazing the trees. Metallic like ribbons circled around me, and crystals formed beneath my feet. My eyes became empty, and I only had one intention, to protect my sister. I was a whole other animal, time seemed to slow. I reached out, or rather, someone else did it for me, the metallic-like ribbons obeyed my will, shooting across the clearing and was about to pierce Zella. The only thing I could remember was her face expression was equal to that of a madman. But I also remember her saying these five words,

“This is all very… morbid.”

I really like this story! Could you do another chapter? Please? You had such a cliffhanger for an ending!! I thought the world you created sounds interesting. Did you come up with the word “Eldritch” on your own?

Thank you for the input, I will see if I can do a chapter once a week or once every other week. I will do my best to give each chapter a cliffhanger at the end. I’ll probably add some plot twists too if I continue the story. The world I came up with has many holes in it so I would like for people to give some input on it(but not a lot, this is my story after all). I did not come up with the word Eldritch, you can search it up and find out that every single name in this chapter is placed there for a reason, it describes the person/thing in a sense. I would like to continue on the story but am afraid that I might ruin it. However, I might only continue the story if many people are willing to read it, so…

Thank you everyone! I will continue the story, so do not worry, but the planning would take some time, please bear with me, so the story won’t start until either next week or the week after that. Since I felt guilty for not posting this week, the next time when I post the story, it would be the prologue, chapter 1, and maybe even chapter 2! So please wait until then! Don’t come rushing towards me at school asking why the chapter isn’t out yet! >.< ' Once again, thank you, I really do hope that you continue reading the story, and I'm sure it will live up to your expectations!
