My life revolves around art, music, and school. Music is the one that has the most important part of my role between both school and art. I started playing the piano when I was in Kindergarten, at first I was hesitant in playing the piano. My parents were the ones that forced me in at the beginning. I was like a machine playing on the piano, keeping a steady beat like the metronome, I wasn’t using any expression in my performances, I once felt that piano was a pain for me, I didn’t find my voice during that time. After several years of playing the piano without my heart into it, I quit playing for several months. This was probably for the best in my condition, my parents told me that I could never play as great as the professionals, not unless I try harder and harder, to put more thought into it and to practice more, but how could I be able to do that if I didn’t put my heart into it?
I began to grow an interest to piano once more when I listened to these songs arranged on the piano, Brave Song arr. by Animenz and My Dearest. When I listened to those two songs, I felt like I wanted to find my voice in the form of music on the piano. So I decided to go back to playing piano with the same teacher for a couple of months. I liked playing songs with a soft melody in it, or songs with a strong message in them. I then got a new piano teacher, who introduced me to the Duet Festival, Masterworks Festival, composing and piano competitions. I would like to thank her, because without her, I wouldn’t have the perseverance to keep on playing piano. She pressed me on, she taught me a lot of technique that I needed in order to play songs that I wanted to play. My teacher was more strict than my previous teacher, and maybe that’s what I needed in order to grow to love the art of music even more, and to finally find my voice in piano.
I’m glad that you’re now enjoying piano. I’m not at all musically talented, so it is super impressive to see how talented others are!
